Year 10 & 11: Mixed Netball Results

On Wednesday, 22nd March, the Year 10 and 11 mixed netball teams had a return fixture against Carr Hill.  We were hosting on this occasion and so had the home advantage.

Year 10 had a flying start and gained a respectful lead by the end of the first quarter.  We were strong in defence with Hector Draper, Daniel Cornall, Katy Brown and Dylan Jackson reading the game well and using their athleticism to intercept attempted passes to the Carr Hill Shooters.  Lillie Heath, Lucy Beesley and Jacke Kippax maintained their consistency centre-court using their speed and agility to make some excellent dodges and create attacking opportunities, whilst Lucy Mulholland, William Russell and Eva Nugent shot accurately to increase our Lead.

Gaby Karakasheva showed great versatility playing out of position in defence and put pressure on her opponent.  The whole squad played really well and consequently won 12-3.  Player of the match went to Jake Kippax for the second time in a row for his ability to read the game and dictate the pace, enabling us to get the ball quickly down court.

Year 11 also had a really positive start.  Millie Lonergan and Will Murray shot well, despite a very tall Carr Hill defence.  Joel Craig had a strong game playing Wing Attack and fed the ball well into our shooters.  Charlie Cooke got some fantastically timed interceptions from the Carr Hill attack, making it difficult for them to get the ball into their circle.  By half time we had built up a three goal lead.  However, in the second half, Carr Hill showed great determination and began to slowly close the gap in the score.  Our Lady’s felt the pressure and we began to struggle to convert some of our shots.  A great come back from Carr Hill saw them win by three goals.  Player of the match went to Millie Lonergan.
