At Our Lady’s Catholic High School, our curriculum is rooted in the person of Jesus Christ and seeks to form not only knowledgeable pupils, but young people of integrity, compassion and hope. A Catholic education is about more than academic achievement—it is about the formation of the whole person: spiritually, morally, intellectually and emotionally. As Pope Benedict XVI reminded us, “A good school provides a rounded education for the whole person. And a good Catholic school, over and above this, should help all its students to become saints.”
Our curriculum is shaped by the Church’s vision of education and guided by the principles characterising education in a Catholic school, which call us to see all learning as a response to God’s invitation to fullness of life (John 10:10).
The curriculum is the lived experience of the Catholic school, shaped by Gospel values and attentive to the whole person.
It is informed by the Church’s philosophy and theology of education, recognising that each person is created and called by God to fullness of life (John 10:10).
Learning happens within a community of faith, where relationships, belonging and service are fundamental to the school’s ethos.
Educators are esteemed as those who shape hearts and minds, recognising their vocation to witness, guide and inspire.
All teaching and learning is viewed through the lens of faith, revealing God’s presence in all subjects and across all knowledge.
High standards and aspirations are central, with a commitment to excellence for all, rooted in the dignity of every learner.
There is space for contemplation, reflection and depth, encouraging a curriculum that promotes wonder, discernment and deep learning.
It is through this lens of faith that every subject is planned and taught, encouraging a synthesis of faith and culture, of knowledge and virtue.
Everything we do is underpinned by the virtues we strive to instil in our pupils: grateful and generous; attentive and discerning; compassionate and loving; faith-filled and hopeful; eloquent and truthful; learned and wise; curious and active; intentional and prophetic. These virtues reflect our mission to help each young person grow into the person God is calling them to be—fully alive, engaged in the world, and striving for the common good.
