Our Lady’s Catholic High School Girls’ Football Team Completes Historic Treble with District, County and National Titles
Our Lady’s Catholic High School Girls’ Under 13 Football Team has cemented its place in the school’s history books after successfully defending a treble of cups. They include the Preston District Cup, Lancashire County title and securing national glory by winning the ESFA U13 9v9 Schools’ Cup for Girls – for a second-year running, completing an outstanding cup treble.
The remarkable achievement marks one of the most successful seasons ever for girls’ football at Our Lady’s, with the team demonstrating exceptional talent, determination and teamwork throughout the year.
The national final, held at Stoke City Football Stadium, saw the Our Lady’s team deliver a winning performance, securing a 3-1 victory against the formidable team of Chislehurst School for Girls. The victory crowned Our Lady’s National Champions and added to their earlier success as Lancashire County Champions and Preston District Cup winners, a title they successfully defended following last year’s triumph.
Team captain Eden Palmer said of the National competition: “The standard of competition was much higher this year and required us to work as a team more than ever. Expectations and the pressure were high as we were defending our title. We had some new younger players in the team this year, and they stepped up to the occasion. Thank you to Mrs Lin for her belief in all of us and the tactical and inspirational team talk at half-time which pushed us to victory in the final.”
The team’s journey to all three titles has been built on months of hard work, dedication, and resilience. Throughout the season, they overcame strong opposition while consistently displaying outstanding sportsmanship and team spirit.
Team Manager Mrs Lin praised the squad’s achievements, saying: “This has been an unbelievable achievement; they are a great set of girls. We are so proud of them. The girls love to play football and that shows in their performances. Eden is an outstanding captain who motivates the team wonderfully. Thank you to every one of the teams family for all their support which makes these performances and wins possible.”
Headteacher Mr Richard Charnock added: “Watching these young women achieve such extraordinary success fills us all with immense pride. To win district, county and national titles for a second consecutive year is a remarkable accomplishment, but what inspires me most is the way they have achieved it — through hard work, humility, resilience and a genuine commitment to one another. They have been exceptional ambassadors for Our Lady’s Catholic High School, demonstrating the values of teamwork, perseverance and service that lie at the heart of our school community. Their achievements remind us that when talent is matched with dedication and belief, extraordinary things can happen. These girls are not only champions on the football field; they are role models for younger pupils and an inspiration to us all. We congratulate every member of the team, Mrs Lin, and their families on this historic achievement. They are truly ‘One of Ours’, and we could not be prouder.”
The team’s remarkable accomplishments have set a new benchmark for girls’ sport at Our Lady’s Catholic High School and will undoubtedly inspire future generations of students to follow in their footsteps.
