Queen Elizabeth II (1952-2022)

Following the announcement of the death of Queen Elizabeth II last night the school have marked her death and service this morning.  All staff gathered before the start of the school day to pray for the repose of her soul.

During Form Time, all pupils took part in a service led by Headteacher Mr Charnock and School Chaplain Sarah.

This service reflected on the service of the Queen as our Head of State for the last 70 years and contained prayers and reflections on both the life of the Queen, her contribution to our way of life and her example of service.  We also ensured that we included prayers for His Majesty King Charles III as he begins his reign.    At 9.10am this morning all pupils stood and took part in 2 minutes of silence out of respect for the Queen and her 70 years of service to our nation.  Pupils then all prayed the Eternal Rest for the Queen, which as a Catholic School, is the prayer we pray for the soul of the departed and then we prayed that her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in the mercy of God.

A memorial has been set up in our chapel which is open to all pupils and staff to allow them to pay their respects and offer prayers.
